The Gilera Nuovo Saturno pays tribute to one of the most celebrated names in Italian motorcycling history, reviving the legendary Saturno lineage with a lightweight, minimalist design inspired by classic Grand Prix racing motorcycles. Produced in limited numbers during the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Nuovo Saturno combined traditional Italian craftsmanship with modern engineering, creating one of the most distinctive single-cylinder sports motorcycles of its era.

At its heart is a 491 cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine, featuring four valves, electronic fuel injection and a six-speed gearbox. Producing approximately 48 horsepower, the engine delivers strong mid-range torque together with the sharp throttle response and mechanical character that define high-performance Italian singles. The powerplant is housed in a lightweight chrome-molybdenum tubular steel frame, contributing to an exceptionally low dry weight of around 145 kg.

Cycle parts were specified to match the motorcycle’s sporting ambitions, with Marzocchi fully adjustable front suspension, a Boge rear monoshock, lightweight alloy wheels and Brembo braking components featuring a large floating front disc and four-piston caliper. The result was an agile, highly communicative chassis offering outstanding cornering precision and rider feedback, characteristics that quickly earned the Nuovo Saturno a reputation as one of the finest handling single-cylinder sports motorcycles ever produced.
