Model Information:
The Kalex Moto2 is a purpose-built Grand Prix racing motorcycle developed for the FIM Moto2 World Championship and produced by German racing engineering company Kalex Engineering.
Kalex entered the Moto2 era from the very beginning of the category in 2010, following the replacement of the 250cc two-stroke World Championship. The company’s first Moto2 project was developed in 2009, with the first Kalex race bike reaching the track for the 2010 season. Kalex immediately established itself as a competitive chassis manufacturer, scoring its first Moto2 podium at Mugello during its debut season.
In 2011, Kalex achieved its first major breakthrough when Stefan Bradl became the Moto2 World Champion riding a Kalex chassis. This marked the beginning of an extraordinary period of success for the German manufacturer and established Kalex as one of the reference chassis manufacturers in Grand Prix racing.
Kalex continued to strengthen its position over the following seasons. In 2013, the company claimed its first Moto2 Constructors’ World Championship, while Kalex riders occupied the top four positions in the final Riders’ Championship standings. In 2015, Kalex riders won 17 of the 18 races and finished first, second and third in the World Championship.
The 2016 season represented one of the most dominant campaigns in the history of the intermediate class. Kalex riders won all 18 races, secured all 18 pole positions and occupied positions one through nine in the final Riders’ Championship standings. Johann Zarco took the title, with Thomas Lüthi and Álex Rins completing the top three.
Kalex continued its dominance through 2017 and 2018, adding further Riders’ and Constructors’ World Championships and establishing a remarkable record of consecutive victories and podium finishes.
THE TRIUMPH ERA
A major technical change arrived in 2019, when Triumph became the exclusive engine supplier for the Moto2 World Championship, replacing the Honda CBR600RR-based powerplant used since the introduction of the category.
The new regulations introduced Triumph’s 765cc three-cylinder racing engine, bringing a significant increase in performance and changing the technical demands placed on the Moto2 chassis. Kalex successfully adapted its platform to the new Triumph-powered era and continued to be the dominant chassis manufacturer in the category.
Since the introduction of the Triumph engine, Moto2 has continued to evolve through developments in engine performance, electronics, aerodynamics, suspension and chassis setup. Kalex has continuously refined its aluminium Grand Prix prototype to extract maximum performance from the package.
The 2026 Kalex Moto2 represents the latest evolution of the successful Kalex chassis platform during the first Triumph-powered era.
Built exclusively for Grand Prix competition, the motorcycle combines a lightweight aluminium twin-spar chassis with the official Triumph 765cc three-cylinder Moto2 racing engine, sophisticated Magneti Marelli electronics and race-proven components from specialist suppliers.
The Kalex chassis is designed around the extremely precise balance between rigidity, flex and rider feedback required in modern Moto2 racing. Geometry, chassis setup, suspension and weight distribution can be extensively configured to suit individual riders, circuits and track conditions.
For 2026, Kalex remains the predominant chassis manufacturer in the Moto2 World Championship, supplying machines to ten of the championship’s teams.
The 2026 machine is also part of the final chapter of the current Triumph 765cc Moto2 generation. Triumph has announced a completely new, higher-performance Moto2 engine for 2027, with approximately six percent more peak power and significant changes to the engine architecture, including revised mounting points and air intake requirements. These changes will require the chassis manufacturers to develop an entirely new generation of Moto2 chassis for the 2027 season.
This makes the 2026 Kalex particularly significant: it represents the culmination of the highly successful Kalex chassis philosophy developed around the Triumph 765cc engine before Moto2 enters its next technical era.
The result is a genuine modern Grand Prix prototype — a machine developed without compromise for one purpose: winning at the highest level of middleweight motorcycle racing.
