Model Information:
The KTM RC125 GP was the bike used in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup from its inception in 2007 until 2012, before the competition adopted the four-stroke KTM RC250R to align itself with the Moto3 class.
It’s important to note that the RC125 GP used in the Rookies Cup is not the same as the road-going KTM RC 125. The Rookies Cup version was a pure race bike, designed for competition and with GP specifications. The KTM RC125 GP in the Red Bull Rookies Cup was a lightweight, powerful, two-stroke race bike with high-end components, specifically created to develop promising young riders in world motorcycling and prepare them for the challenge of the Grand Prix classes. Very close to the machines used in the 125cc World Championship of the time, it featured a 125cc, two-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine capable of generating an impressive power output of between 45 and 48 hp, an exceptional figure for its displacement that positioned it as a high-performance machine. Powering this engine was a 38 mm Keihin carburetor, and power was transmitted through a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of its chassis, the RC125 GP stood out for its extreme lightness, with a dry weight of just 72.5 kg. Its robustness and agility were largely due to a twin-spar aluminum frame, designed to be exceptionally light and rigid on the track. WP suspension, both front and rear, ensured precise control and high-quality adjustability, essential in competition. For powerful and reliable braking, the bike featured Brembo steel discs on both wheels, with a Brembo monobloc caliper at the front. Completing the package were Marchesini wheels, which contributed to its lightness and agility, key elements for the track performance.
